Perri
Forrest is a California based author with seventeen titles to her credit. A
writer who becomes one with her characters, Perri has produced numerous
outstanding titles including having reached number one in African American
Romance on the Amazon Best Sellers list. The fan favorite novel, Captivated was
an international hit debuting at number two in Women's Fiction for three
consecutive weeks on the Amazon Best Sellers list in the United Kingdom and the
United States.
Having studied psychology, Perri delves into the intrinsic elements that make
her characters tick. She consistently creates strong female leads weaving in
the complexities of fiction and real life. This dynamic writer, who has penned
stories since a preteen, ensures that each novel is mixed with insight, passion
and love. Having only professionally written for just shy of three years, Perri

Author Interview
1.
What inspired you to become a Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance writer?
I
don’t consider myself an IR or multicultural author. I consider myself an
author who writes (at times) using a multicultural cast. It wasn’t as cut and
dry for me with this whole selecting a sub-genre thing. I always knew that I’d
write with a diverse group. It wasn’t until I was published that I learned that
there was even a sub-genre.

Besides writing, what are some of your favorite things?
I
play badminton. I coach middle school students on fiction writing. I LOVE to
read good suspense thriller novels as well as paranormal reads. I also love
braiding hair. I used to do it professionally.

What types or genre of books do you enjoy reading? What are you currently
reading?
Suspense/Thriller,
Romantic Comedy, and paranormal with a sci-fi feel. And I’m always up for a
good urban.

Are you working on anything new? If so, when can we expect it to be released?
My
upcoming release is coming early October, but it isn’t IR, it’s AA Romance.
6. Do
you have any scheduled upcoming events; such as book signings, interviews,
etc.?
I’m
scheduled to be at UBAWA’s book fair that’s being held in October, but I’m
still working out the logistics for that.
7.
Where do you expect to be in your career as an author five (5) years from now?
Making
movies and signed to a multi-book deal with one of the big houses. That’s the
goal I dream about daily.
8.
What advice can you give to new authors who’s interested in writing in this
genre?
No
advice for THIS genre…ANY genre. It’s just to write from the heart and write
all the time. You’re not going to be able to please everyone so you don’t have
control over that. But what you do have control over is delivering a quality
product that will make people want to read your work and subsequently come back
to see what else you’ve done.

I’d like for readers to know that I write from the heart with every book I publish. I write to appeal to all audiences and not just a select few. My hope is that people gravitate toward my work because of richness of the story and not so much the characters’ makeup. I want to be known for pulling together a good plot and one that grabs the attention of the reader. I have a strict rule with myself to never be boxed in or labeled, so with every piece of work, I make it my goal to stick to nothing but originality. Period. I’m personable, and always reachable, by any of the portals listed.

Or will they remain siblings in name, only? What will happen when tragedy strikes and the traumatic event touches several of the lives that Rush holds dear? And what about Siobhan, Rush’s mother, who was being sought for his father’s murder? Somebody doesn’t want to let it go, and wants to make sure that Siobhan pays for her crime.
