Author Interview

1. What inspired you to become a Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance writer?

I don’t remember a time when I didn’t write plays and stories. Becoming an author was just putting a label on what I had always done in my youth. The first novel I wrote was multi-racial, Interracial and BWWM. I didn’t know these genre labels existed until I had already written a few books. So I never actually was inspired to write in these genres. I more so wrote what I was most familiar with.

2. Besides writing, what are some of your favorite things?

I’m an avid reader of books in all genres. I love going to concerts. I am a TV junkie and like watching movies in all genres.

3. Name at least two (2) authors that you admire who write Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance?

I am a real big fan of IR romance author Lashawn Vasser and Kenya Wright. I read Lashawn Vasser when I am looking for a sweet, contemporary BWWM romance. I read Kenya Wright when I crave an edgy, sensual BWWM romance. I admire both of these authors dedication to their work while balancing family.

4. What types or genre of books do you enjoy reading? What are you currently reading?

I love vampire, zombie and horror novels. Paranormal fantasy is my favorite. I am currently reading Bad Teacher by Clarissa Wild and Heavy Love by Amarie Avant.

5. Are you working on anything new? If so, when can we expect it to be released?

I’m currently writing a standalone novel called Logan Enchanted. The book is available for preorder at Amazon and will be released October 2016.

6. Do you have any scheduled upcoming events; such as book signings, interviews, etc.?

I currently don’t have any events scheduled for the remainder of the year. I just returned from the Romance Novel Convention this past June in Las Vegas.

7. Where do you expect to be in your career as an author five (5) years from now?

Within the next five years I see myself writing more books, tackling more controversial topics and expanding my author brand. I hope to have increased my reader base. I also plan to attend more author events and book signings.

8. What advice can you give to new authors who’s interested in writing in this genre?

My best advice for new authors is you have to read everything. Reading is the most important part of gaining the skills needed to be successful at writing. Not necessarily reading only books in the genre but also reading blogs and message boards that are for authors.

To hell with this bullshit. I grabbed my drink, my purse, and my sunglasses and headed for the door. 

“Hey, where do you think you’re going?”

I looked up at the guy that had so rudely blocked my path. I wasn’t in the mood to be hit on by some tall ass Abercrombie and Fitch model.

“Excuse me.” I cut my eyes and scrunched my entire face.

“You heard me.”

I instantly thought about kicking this guy in the balls. But he hadn’t actually put his hands on me and he was so much bigger than me.

“Move out of my way.” I gritted my teeth through every single syllable.

“Cheyenne.” His deep voice startled me but I refused to be rattled.

How the hell did he know my name? My hand flew up to my name badge that wasn’t clipped to my blouse. It was inside my purse.

“How do you know my name?”

“Cheyenne Alexis Miles.”

He knows my name, my full government name. I had never lost eye contact with the stranger but clearly— I was seeing him for the first time at this very moment.

“Logan.” His name barely breached my lips.

“What’s up Chey-town?” His mouth spread wide and I recognized his perfect teeth.
