Hello everyone. Its day 4 of the Swirling Around Love ‘Multicultural Event’. I hope you all are enjoying yourself. It feels great to shine the light on so many talented authors. So, if you haven’t checked out their books go ahead & do so. Don’t forget to enter each giveaway throughout the event.

Today we have Seven Steps joining us. Let’s get to know who she is …

Seven Steps

Seven Steps is a new author with a flair for telling original stories filled with action, romance, and beautifully detailed settings. She specializes in diverse science fiction romance with strong heroines and hot heroes.

Seven Steps is a working wife and mother, as well as a devoted owner of a beautiful cat named Rosie. I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, thrifting, and anything that reminds her of the 1990s.

"Let me be that I am and seek not to alter me."
--William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing.

Author Interview

1. What inspired you to become a Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance writer?

I enjoy writing most when the story reflects me as a person. Growing up, I was always attracted to a particular type of man: tall, blonde haired, and blue eyed. I was obsessed with boy bands, particularly the Backstreet Boys. That didn’t change much as I grew older, though my taste veered more towards dark hair, dark eyes. Very Black Irish or Italian. So, naturally, my writing reflected that. All except for one of my upcoming books feature an interracial couple.

2. Besides writing, what are some of your favorite things?

I love music, particularly 90’s music. Everyone thinks that the music of their generation is the best and I am no exception. I love the Goo Goo Dolls, Dave Matthews Band, Blink 182, and Incubus. Mostly rock and punk. My dad gave me a classic rock album when I was a teen. That album introduced me to a new sound that I absolutely loved. It was one of those late night infomercial cd’s with songs like, American Band, Ballroom Blitz, and My Sherona on it. It really created a soft spot in my heart for classic rock. My husband listens to a lot of hip hop, so we play that as well. Not new hip hop, old hip hop. Ludicrous, Busta Rhymes, stuff like that. We were both born in the 80’s, so 90’s and 2000’s hip hop is the only hip hop allowed in the house.

3. Name at least two (2) authors that you admire who write Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance?

Jasmine Parker is an Indie Author. She doesn’t write much anymore but, I really like her books because they are clean interracial romance. I try to write clean romance as well so that the books have a broader appeal. I remember my first book with an IR couple was Aliyah Burke’s book, A Knight’s Vow. I really enjoyed it. Oh, and J.J Murray is awesome for contemporary romance.

4. What types or genre of books do you enjoy reading? What are you currently reading?

I love science fiction books. Anything with aliens and spaceships. I love historical romance and contemporary romances. My favorite author is Brittinay Cherry. Her book The Air He Breathes, is probably the best book I've ever read hands down.

5. Are you working on anything new? If so, when can we expect it to be released?

I have three books coming out this year. The Slave Planet 2: Civil War, is a sequel to The Slave Planet. That should be out by the end of the summer hopefully. Civil War picks up where Slave Planet left off. This story has more fantasy elements in it, which I think people will really like. There is a huge betrayal by one of the main characters, giant monsters, new loves, old enemies, and, of course, a Civil War.

The Last Rock King is my first contemporary romance, interracial of course. It's about a rock star whose career is failing and he goes on a world tour to try to revive it. On the tour he meets a woman named Cassie, his on staff nurse. Things go great between them until a serial killer starts targeting women who are associated with the tour. It's a romantic suspense that I’m sure everyone will enjoy.

Peace in the Storm is another contemporary romance that I hope will be out this year, depending on how I publish it. It is about a divorced couple who find themselves stranded on an island. The island holds many secrets, and some of the more deadly ones are gunning for the couple. They have to work together to stay safe and stay alive. It's an interracial clean romance with lots of action, romance, and close calls. Be on the lookout for it.

6. Do you have any scheduled upcoming events; such as book signings, interviews, etc.?

Only this interview. LOL.

7. Where do you expect to be in your career as an author five (5) years from now?

Five years from now I want to be a well-known name in the Clean Interracial Romance genre.

8. What advice can you give to new authors who’s interested in writing in this genre?

Write every day. Lean on the shoulders of giants by finding out what more established authors are doing and do that. Join mentor groups. Keep writing. Outline. Get an editor and a great cover.

Special message from Seven Steps to you …

Thank you for your support, messages and encouragement. For me, the road to becoming an author was a long one. Even though I wrote constantly, my work was never really supported. After publishing my book, The Slave Planet, the outpouring of support was overwhelming. Every time someone says they enjoy something I've written, I feel like I've sprouted wings. I hope to continue to take readers on journeys of discovery, adventure, and most of all LOVE for as long as I can. Thank you all.
