Good Morning! TGIF!!! How do you plan on spending your weekend? I personally don’t have any plans as of yet but I’m sure I’ll be working on something …and reading! Today we have Author Elisabeth with us. Let’s welcome her to the blog and please check out her work.

Elisabeth

Elisabeth is twenty-five years old. She was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. After being raised in Bridgeport and West Haven, CT, she moved to Ottawa, ON, CA when she was sixteen. She has seven siblings; five sisters and two brothers of which she is number five. She started writing in the third grade but never showed anyone. Currently residing in Ottawa, she has a bachelor’s in Human Relations with a minor in Conflict Studies, at Saint Paul University and Ottawa University. She plans on furthering her education with a master’s degree in Mental Health counselling.

Author Interview

1. What inspired you to become a Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance writer?

What inspired me to become an IR romance writer was the lack of it in reading.  I was and still am an avid reader so for me, I wanted to connect with the main female character or heroine of the story. Also, I wanted to do something different than the usual, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and write about people who came from not only different backgrounds but have different ethnicity and race. Even if some don’t agree, there is still an underlying issue towards those who are together and are not of the same race. Though it may not come from them, there are people who don’t agree with it such as family, friends, or random people. To write such stories, for me, it is to show that though my work may be fiction, it doesn’t mean people don’t face such adversities in life.

2. Besides writing, what are some of your favorite things?

Some of my favorite things besides writing are reading, computer tech things, and I am an avid fan of watching Korean dramas.

3. Name at least two (2) authors that you admire who write Multicultural, IR or BWWM Romance?

S.K. Lessly and Theodora Taylor

4. What types or genre of books do you enjoy reading? What are you currently reading?

I enjoy reading IR, Multicultural, and BWWM Romance, fantasy, and fiction. I actually just finished reading Tethered by L.D. Davis.

5. Are you working on anything new? If so, when can we expect it to be released?

Yes, I am. I am working on an extension of one of my characters from the Chasing Di’Maggio series. As for the release date, I have no idea. Hopefully within the next two months.

6. Do you have any scheduled upcoming events; such as book signings, interviews, etc.?

No, not yet.

7. Where do you expect to be in your career as an author five (5) years from now?

Five years from now, I would like to be amongst the bestsellers such as Sylvia Day and E.L. James.

8. What advice can you give to new authors who’s interested in writing in this genre?

The advice that I would give is for new authors to not hesitate on their story line. Yes, not too many people may understand it but bringing something different to the table is what makes you an author. To be able to come up with your own ideas that capture readers in such a way that they for one, wish that it wasn’t just fiction. Another thing would be to always consider what your reviewers say, some reviewers are honest which makes it better for growth. Never see reviewers as an enemy, see them as someone who wants to help you grow with every chance they have.

Special message from Elisabeth to you …

Never be afraid to show the world your talent. As people, we are all afraid of showing the world who we are whether it/s being an author, a singer, a doctor, etc. the list goes on. Take it from someone who hid their work for so many years just because she thought it wasn’t good enough. Also, once you believe in yourself, nothing will be able to stop you from achieving whatever it is and talent isn’t something that can be bought. It is natural, it is something that you, uniquely have, something that no one can take from you no matter what they say or do.
